1. What is an average GMAT score?
The average score for GMAT is 550 for a total marks of 800.The level of competition is high for the top business schools which pick up only outstanding performers with a score between 630 to 720.
2. What is the time taken to prepare for GMAT?
Preparation time differs according to the potential of students. In order to achieve a good score, 3 months of preparation is required.
3. How am I measured through GMAT test?
You will be tested on your analytical thinking, mathematical skills and logical reasoning. While preparing ensure that you have refreshed your mathematical skills and English grammar.
4. Explain the test structure of GMAT.
GMAT test structureis divided into three parts namely analytical writing, quantitative and verbal section. The following is the test pattern:
  • Analytical Writing - 2 essays (30 minutes each)
  • Quantitative Section – 37 questions (75 minutes)
  • Verbal section – 41 questions (75 minutes)
5. How to apply for GMAT test?
You can register for GMAT test by online, by phone, by mail or fax. There is a non-refundable application fee of US $ 250.00.
6. What are the identification requirements for GMAT?
There are four forms of ID accepted, to apply for GMAT test. They are as follows:
  • Passport
  • Government-issued Driver’s license
  • Government-issued National/State/provincial ID card including European ID card
  • Military ID card
7. Who accepts the GMAT scores?
GMAT scores are used for admissions world over, in all the top business schools.
8. How would I reschedule the GMAT appointment?
It is advisable to reschedule your GMAT appointment, only if necessary. There is a rescheduling fee of US $ 50 if you reschedule 7 days in advance to the test appointment. However if rescheduling is done within 7 days of the first GMAT appointment, you will have to pay the entire registration fee (US $ 250) along with country tax (for certain countries) again plus the rescheduling fee of US $ 50.
9. Am I eligible for refund if I cancel my GMAT appointment?
Yes. You are eligible for a refund of US $80, if you cancel your first GMAT appointment 7 days in advance to the test date. However you if cancel the appointment 7 days within the appointment date, you will end up paying a penalty of the full registration fee US $250.00.
10. Do they provide special provision for the disabled candidates at the test centers?
Yes. A request form needs to be filled and sent by the disabled students to apply for special provisions like wheelchair, trackball mouse, an interpreter (if they have hearing disability), a recorder etc. Minor accommodations like eye glasses, hearing aids, and adjustable chairs do not need special permissions.
11. What are the documents that I need to produce at the test centre?
  • A valid ID is expected to be shown to the administrator. It’s advisable to carry two or three IDs such as Passport, Government-issued Driver’s license, Government-issued National/State ID card.
  • Your photograph, fingerprints and signature are taken digitally (check-in-procedure).
12. Can I bring my cell phone and PDA to the test centre? How would the environment at the test centre be like?
  • You are not allowed to bring any of your belongings to the test center like bags, purse, cell phones and electronic device.
  • You will be provided with a pencil and a rough paper by the administrator.
  • A small locker is provided at the test centre to store your belongings. You will be taking up the test in a separate cubicle/workstation.
13. Can a family member or a friend accompany the candidate in the test centre?
A friend or a family member is not allowed to wait at the test centre. The test centers will be small in area and there would be candidates waiting for their turn. At the time of your test your family will not be allowed to contact you.
14. How early should I report at the test centre?
Please ensure that you arrive 30 minutes early to the test centre because you have to complete the check-in-procedure. If you are late, by more than 15 minutes, you will not be allowed to take up the test. You will end up forfeiting the registration fee of US $250.00.
15. What happens if the test is disrupted due to the technical glitches?
If your computer does not work or if the test is disrupted due to the other technical problems, then the administrator has to be informed.
After the concerned organization finds out that, there is no malpractice your test date will be rescheduled at free of cost
