This process involves cost and time. In the process of rescheduling a GMAT appointment, you will be charged rescheduling fee US$ 50.00 with country tax (certain countries).
When would you reschedule a GMAT appointment?
There might be situations when you end up rescheduling your GMAT appointment. They are as follows:
  • The times when a candidate is physically unfit.
  • Many a candidates reschedule the test due to the fact, that they need an additional time period to prepare for the test. Their focus becomes the high score.
Top ranking business schools are chosen by majority of the candidates. Those business schools aim at the best of the scores.
The ranges of scores are of three categories namely low, average and high score. If a candidate had scores around 630 to 720, it s considered as an outstanding score, qualified to be picked up by top business schools.
How many times a candidate is allowed to reschedule GMAT test?
The above mentioned reasons are the major reasons for a candidate to reschedule GMAT appointment. A GMAT candidate is allowed to retake or reschedule a test appointment up to 5 times in a year. There should be a break of 30 days between one retest to another.
 
The total GMAT score is 800. Incase a candidate scores 800 on GMAT, rescheduling GMAT appointment is not allowed.
 
All your scores will be sent to the business schools. The best of the other scores will be used for admission.
 
Note: Even though you have a chance for high scores, it is advisable to retake the test not more than 3 times. It’s an advantage that your scores are valid for 5 years.
Methods of Rescheduling GMAT Appointment
There are two methods to reschedule your test date namely online and by phone.
  • Reschedule Online
A candidate can reschedule his/her GMAT appointment online, if they have signed up from the official website as a registered user. A rescheduling fee about US $ 50.00 is applicable with country tax (for certain countries). It is always advisable that rescheduling GMAT appointment should be done only if necessary, because the candidate would end up paying more. The penalty charge differs, according to the scenario as follows:
    • If a candidate is going to reschedule 7 days in advance of the confirmed test date, a rescheduling fee about US $ 50.00 with country tax is applicable(certain countries).
    • If a candidate reschedules the test appointment within 7 days of confirmed test, a penalty of entire registration fee is applicable with country tax (for certain countries) along with the rescheduling fee. So you end up paying US $ 250. 00 (the registration fee), plus the country tax (may or may not be applicable based on country to country) and US $ 50.00 (the rescheduling fee)
The country tax varies from one country to another. They are listed below:
Austria- 20%, Belgium- 21%, Bulgaria- 20%, Cyprus- 15%, Czech Republic -20%, Denmark -25%, Estonia -20%, Finland -23%, France -19.60%, Germany- 19%, Greece-23%, Hungary -25%, Ireland -21%, Italy-20%, Japan- 5%, Latvia-21%, Lithuania- 21%, Luxembourg- 15 %, Malta- 18%, Netherlands 19%, Poland- 22%, Portugal -21%, Romania -24%, Slovakia- 19%, Slovenia- 20%, Spain-18%, Sweden -25% ,United Kingdom- 17.50%.
  • Reschedule by Phone
If a candidate wants to reschedule GMAT appointment, by phone he/she has to contact GMAT customer service. The candidate has to then provide the choice of test date and centre, identification details and payment mode details in order to reschedule the GMAT appointment.
Note: When a candidate happens to reschedule the test in a different country, other than the one, where he had scheduled the first appointment, he has to contact GMAT customer service.
Therefore when a candidate applies for the GMAT test, they pay a non-refundable registration fee of about US $250.It is certain that rescheduling is a process which requires additional time and money. Please ensure that you take up the test in the scheduled time. A fierce preparation is a must to achieve high scores.
